Your placenta also contains hormones that can help with your physical and emotional recovery. Estrogen, Progesterone, Oxytocin, Prolactin, Testosterone, Interferon, Prostaglandins, Cortisone, and Corticotropin Releasing Hormone are just some of the hormones present in your placenta.

 FAQs

  • When you're ready to book I will send you a contract. After the contract and retainer are received you are officially on my books. When your baby has arrived, simply reach out and I will come to the hospital or place of birth to pick up the placenta.

  • $295 for encapsulation. Add-ons of tincture, prints, and cord keepsakes are additional fees or you can book these services individually.

  • You will need a hard sided, medium sized cooler and 2 gallon sized ziplock bags.

  • Absolutely! Just make sure your care team knows to keep your placenta after birth.

  • Yes. I encapsulate the TCM method, which steams the placenta and then dehydrates at a temperature of 160 for 24 hours. This method kills GBS as well as Covid and other harmful bacteria.

  • Yes!

  • Definitely. The bacteria present in meconium is from your own body, but I also thoroughly wash the placenta and then steam and dehydrate at a temperature that would kill any harmful bacteria that may be present.

  • Although the placenta is known as a “filter organ,” the title that would actually be more fitting is “facilitator organ.” The placenta acts as a facilitator, making sure all of the good stuff gets to the baby, and all of the toxins and waste gets disposed of by putting it back into the mother’s bloodstream. The toxins and waste don’t just “hang around” in the placenta.

  • Possibly. A fever does not always indicate infection and can be associated with receiving an epidural. Your care provider should be able to tell if your placenta is infected by the way it looks, feels, and smells. If you have questions regarding encapsulation and fever after your labor, please contact me.

  • If you have HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis A, B, or C.

  • The amount of pills is relative to the size of your placenta and baby! If you have a small baby, you may have less pills and vice-versa. The average placenta will yield between 100 and 180 pills. Dosage instructions will be included with delivery.

  • If you're worried about the smell or taste of the pills and taking them with juice doesn't sound like enough, I do have flavored pills available. Flavor availability changes, so ask upon booking what is available.

  • Yes. Since it is all natural, it will not interfere with any medications you may be taking.

  • In addition to encapsulation, you may also purchase a placenta tincture. The placenta tincture is an added bonus that can extend the benefits that encapsulation offers after you have taken all your pills. Tinctures sit for a minimum of 6 weeks and then are taken whenever you need! They can be used during your first cycle, during times of emotional turmoil, or when experiencing postpartum anxiety. The tincture is made with 100 proof alcohol and is shelf stable.
